It was a lousy finish to the stock market on Wednesday, but it wasn’t that bad at the end, although it did wipe out all the morning gains. There are quite a few stocks that are setting up well, or did well on Wednesday, especially the biotech stocks, which we highlighted here. Amarin Corporation (AMRN) was up a lot on Wednesday, only 6 cents to 11.61, on 2.8 million shares, but the set-up was good. A wedge is forming after a pop, a pullback, then an orderly channel at the moving averages that popped to resistance, and then it pulled back again. Another wedge is setting up, and should quickly set-up at 12 3/4. Look for a break up through that, and a run-up into the 14 range, followed by a move into the 17-18 range. Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ARNA) has had a nice move of late. It had a huge surge in May from about 2.00 to 7.00, it coiled nicely for a month, broke out the last few sessions and moved up steadily, and on Wednesday, the volume increased to 57.4 million shares. Although it closed off the high, it was up a bit on the day, and we got to see whether it consolidates. At some point, look for this stock to be in the 9 3/4 – 10 range short-term. Dendreon Corp (DNDN) had a nice day on Wednesday, jumping 86 cents to 7.11, or 13.76%, on 25 1/2 million shares. It was up over 1.00 at one point, but pulled back to the 21-day moving average. Perhaps it’s turned the corner, but with resistance around the 7.85 area, followed by the 8.35. So those are two levels to keep an eye on next. Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. (OSIR) broke out of a big wedge-pattern on Wednesday, popping 31 cents to 7.07, or 4.59%, on 409,000. The volume increased the best it's been in a couple weeks. Look for more upside, and a move to about the 8.15 level. That would be an important breakout, so we’ll see where it goes from there. Other stocks in our Charts for the Day are E-Commerce China Dangdang Inc. (DANG), Digital Generation, Inc. (DGIT), Demand Media, Inc. (DMD), FSI International Inc. (FSII), KIT digital, Inc. (KITD), Mitek Systems Inc. (MITK), Smart Balance, Inc (SMBL).
