Stocks extended Tuesday’s winning streak into today, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average notching a 181-point gain, its second best day of the year.

The Dow and the S&P 500 both closed up 1.4% while the Nasdaq rose 1.3%.

Investors were bullish ahead of Google’s (GOOG) report after hours, in which it missed on the top line but delivered an earnings beat.

JPMorgan (JPM), which along with Wells Fargo (WFC) kicks off earnings season for financials tomorrow, was also rising, with some help from an analyst upgrade. The Street also seemed pleased with Goldman Sachs’ (GS) $22 million settlement with the SEC.
