GALWAY, IRELAND--May 29, 2009--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Macedonia recently unveiled the country's first natural-gas-fired cogeneration plant in Skopje. The combined-heat-and-power (CHP) plant is powered by Jenbacher cogeneration units supplied by General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut). The project was implemented under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), a carbon-reduction program formulated as part of the Kyoto Protocol that allows industrialized nations to invest in clean energy projects in developing countries to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
