Aventine Publicly Solicits Potential Investor Interest

PEKIN, Ill., May 26, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aventine Renewable Energy Holdings, Inc. ("Aventine" or the "Company") (Pink Sheets:AVRNQ), a producer of ethanol in the U.S., announced today that, in addition to the parties that have already shown an expression of interest, it is now publicly soliciting other potential investor interest in support of a recapitalization or sale of its business. The Company has set a deadline of June 17 for submissions of such interest. Aventine and its subsidiaries voluntarily filed to reorganize under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy code on April 7, 2009 in order to facilitate a restructuring of the Company's debts.
