Does Ballmer really want to compare Microsoft to RCA?
Once again, the mouth of Steve Ballmer, Microsoft Corp.'s energetic chief executive, has proven to be a double-edged sword for the software giant. Ballmer says Microsoft will continue to spend on research and development in the year ahead despite the economic crunch. His main point of comparison was the now-defunct RCA, which invested heavily in research during the Great Depression of the 1930s.
