Discover swings to profit, seeks TARP funds
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Credit card firm Discover Financial Services said Thursday that it swung to a profit in its fiscal fourth quarter, aided by $535 million of gains from an antitrust lawsuit settlement, but cautioned it expects to charge off more than 6% of its loans in 2009 as economic stresses reach historic proportions.
