SUGAR LAND--July 28, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--New York currently has 10 projects for 700 megawatts (MW) of operational wind power. This represents about 1.7% of the total 40,669 MW of the state's operational capacity. New York, like most states, is trying to increase its generation capacity from renewable sources. The state's location provides plenty of areas to harness wind energy at higher altitudes and offshore: lakes Erie and Ontario, and the Atlantic Ocean.
