BEIJING--July 9, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China's coal-rich Shanxi province has drafted a plan to build 14 biomass-fueled power plants before 2012 and to expand afterward. The total installed capacity of the plants will be 168 MW, and they will produce 924 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year using 1.05 million tons of agricultural waste and wood trimmings. In 2020, 13 of the plants are planned to be expanded to increase the total capacity to 1.78 billion kWh a year, or about 0.6% of what Shanxi's power consumption is expected to be.
