In total, new project reports during May equaled more than $2 billion in combined spending, substantially more than previous months this year, which have averaged $1 billion or less in new project reports. Over the last month, project reports generated in both the Western Canada and Mid-Atlantic regions each surpassed the traditionally strong Southwest in total spending in the chemical processing sector, with an estimated $600 million and $541 million, respectively.
