JPMorgan Ups Bid For Bear Stearns

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) boosted its bid for Bear Stearns Cos. (NYSE: BSC) to $10 a share in order to ward off any potential competitive bid and to allay criticism from Bear Stearns employees that own nearly one-third of the company. Shares of Bear Stearns leaped $5.29 to close at $11.25 while JPMorgan stock added 58 cents to close at $46.55.
