Municipal Software (TSX VENTURE: MSZ) announced today that it has signed a contract with Eastern Municipal Water District to deliver a system, which will automate and track Commercial, Industrial, and Residential service requests for water and wastewater connections. The software will help monitor activities associated with new developments along with regulatory compliance and permits.
"With our current rate of growth at nearly 17,000 new homes per year, we needed a solution able to provide a timely response, but also accurately handle all of the new customer applications and their associated fees," said Mike Wayment, Business Systems Manager at the EMWD. "CityView(TM) offers the advantage of being able to tailor applications to our unique business processes. In addition, the CityView PreBuilts represent the foundation for the new solution, providing a jump start to the development process, saving time and money for our customers."
CityView was chosen for its versatility, robustness, and integration capabilities. It is expected to significantly improve customer service, accuracy, and efficiency, by reengineering the current business processes, and replacing the existing system. Mike Wayment added that, "Municipal Software presented the most appropriate solution based on the results of an extensive evaluation and selection process. The evaluation showed that CityView is a cost-effective, reliable, and operational product for the current and future needs of EMWD's residential, commercial, and industrial customers."
Iain McLean, CEO for Municipal Software, stated, "We are very pleased that EMWD has chosen CityView, and are looking forward to this partnership. The evaluation team was very thorough and EMWD is a leader in innovation in Water Utilities. Our experience in local government services and business processes offers a strong combination to help EMWD meet its goals for the project."
About Eastern Municipal Water District
Since its formation in 1950, Eastern Municipal Water District has matured from a small, primarily agricultural-serving agency, to one whose major demand comes from domestic customers. The District's main functions are to deliver potable water, treat waste water; recycle waste water and occasionally storm water. The District has undergone rapid growth over recent years, necessitating over 17,000 new service connections to be established annually from Riverside County alone, which has triggered the creation of new facilities for Sewer, Water and Recycled products. The EMWD is headquartered in Perris, CA and covers a 555 square mile radius, serving a population of about 630,000.
