Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ:AMCC), a global leader in optical transport, embedded Power Architecture™ processing and storage solutions today announced it was honored with an Electronic Products’ Product of the Year award for its new PowerPC® 405EX embedded processor.
The editors of Electronic Products, a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers, evaluated thousands of products launched over the course of 2007. Winners were selected on the basis of design innovation, significant advancement in a technology or its application and substantial achievement in price/performance.
“The PowerPC 405EX sets the new standard in terms of performance, low power, security and multi-platform support, making it ideal for next generation 801.11n (Wi-Fi®) and WiMAX™ applications or general embedded applications,” said Sam Fuller, Vice President of Marketing for AMCC.
“When we looked at the PowerPC 405EX and saw capabilities such as 900+ DMIPs performance, sub-2-W power dissipation, and an integrated hardware security engine that supports IPSec, SSL, and DTLS protocols, we were impressed,” said Jim Harrison, West Coast Editor, Electronic Products Magazine. “When you add to that dual PCI Express ports, dual GbE MACs, up to 484-Mbit/s USB 2.0, and a price tag under $17, we knew that AMCC’s PowerPC 405EX was our clear choice for Product of the Year.”
The 2007 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the January 2008 issue of Electronic Products (http://www.electronicproducts.com/ShowPage1.asp?FileName=poy.jan2008. html) (Due to its length, this URL may need to be copied/pasted into your Internet browser's address field.
