McKesson Signs Agreement with Community Health Systems
Physician Access and Performance Analytics Tools to Be Deployed

McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK) today announced that it has signed a national agreement with Community Health Systems (CHS) (NYSE:CYH), one of the nations leading operators of general acute-care hospitals. Affiliates of CHS own or operate more than 125 hospitals in 28 states with a total of nearly 18,800 licensed beds. CHS will deploy McKessons physician portal, electronic medical records, and performance analytics tools across most facilities. CHS has selected McKesson to deploy clinical information systems in over 40 of its larger hospitals, reflecting the strength of McKessons Horizon Clinicals® offering and the strategic relationship between the two organizations.

McKesson has proven to be a strong partner that shares CHS commitment to clinical and operational excellence for large and small hospitals alike, said Wayne Smith, CHS chairman, president and chief executive officer. With a portfolio of highly-rated solutions that are widely used in healthcare, we look forward to their ongoing expertise in deploying solutions targeted to the needs of our facilities.

We are very pleased to partner with CHS following its acquisition of Triad Hospitals we are excited about the opportunity to expand the scope of our agreement and to work with CHS to implement technology that will support high-quality, safe healthcare, said John Hammergren, chairman and chief executive officer, McKesson Corporation. Our goal is to demonstrate value quickly and enable CHS to achieve measurable results from our systems. We are excited about the momentum that Horizon has in the marketplace. Every month were tracking nearly 4.5 million log-ins to our industry-leading physician portal, and more than 2 million clinicians nationwide rely on McKesson clinical systems as they care for patients. We continue to add new customers who see the unique value McKesson can provide by automating the health system and connecting the key stakeholders including physicians, payors and the patients they all serve.

Most CHS facilities should receive HorizonWP® Physician Portal, which enables physicians to make more timely and informed decisions by giving them anytime, anywhere access to patient information such as vital signs, medication orders, test results and diagnostic images. CHS should also deploy McKessons enterprise document imaging system, which can be used to electronically capture, index, complete, access and store legal electronic medical records. More than 120,000 physicians across the United States currently log on to McKesson imaging systems to access, review and sign patient charts online.

McKessons analytics tools can enable CHS hospital executives and managers to monitor, measure and adjust processes with the goal of improving clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and financial performance. Organizations using analytics have reported a wide range of benefits, from fewer documentation errors to improved profitability.

With this new initiative, were ensuring that all of the CHS facilities have a set of IT capabilities that will enable them to provide caregivers with systems tools needed for safe, efficient care, said Gary Seay, chief information officer, CHS. We are also pleased to enhance our ability to capture and use organizational data, which should enable improvement of the care we deliver and CHS operational effectiveness.
