Abu Dhabi Investment In Citi Positive For US "Tuesday's $7.5 billion capital infusion in Citigroup Inc . ( NYSE: C ) by the investment arm of the Abu Dhabi government "reinforces the fact that America is a great place to invest," an economic adviser to U.S. President George W. Bush said Tuesday. Allan Hubbard, director of the National Economic Council, said in an interview with CNBC that the investment by the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority shows that "foreigners like to put their dollars here." Asked about the home loan and credit problems hitting the U.S., Hubbard said while the number of mortgage foreclosures will increase, they represent just a small part of the country's "gigantic" economy. The bulk of the economy, he said, is doing "just fine." Hubbard said financial markets would be helped by greater transparency in financial products. "There's uncertainty about the value of a lot of these financial instruments," he said. Bottomline: Citigroup Inc. ( NYSE: C ) is one of the top 50 innovative companies in the world. Although Citigroup is not included in the 20 innovators comprising The Innovation Index for 2007, at the current valuation where it is at five year lows, Citigroup is a great BUY. Citigroup is a great company, that will stand the test of current sub-prime crisis, and come out with flying colors. The patient investor will be rewarded. If you agree with Warrent Buffett's and Benjamin Graham's approach to value investing, the best investment opportunities are when great companies' stock valuations are down owing to market fluctuations or market reactions to short-term trends. Once Citigroup hires a worthy CEO, and gets into execution mode, the likelihood of success in 2008 and beyond far outweighs the likelihood of failure. Citigroup has too many good assets, and has the size to withstand the current crisis. Benjamin Graham recommended that investors spend time and effort to analyze the financial state of companies. When a company is available on the market at a price which is at a discount to its intrinsic value , a " margin of safety " exists, which makes it suitable for investment. Graham wrote that investment is most intelligent when it is most businesslike, a statement which Warren Buffett regarded as the most important words about investment ever written. Graham said that the stock investor is neither right nor wrong because others agreed or disagreed with him; he is right because his facts and analysis are right.
