AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch
12 Weeks of Price Drops

The current Texas statewide average price for self-serve regular gasoline is $2.084 a gallon, which is two cents less than last week and 46 cents less than last year.

In Corpus Christi, the average dipped below $2.00 a gallon to $1.996, a weekly decrease of two cents. The Austin - San Marcos area edged past El Paso this week to have the highest average on the survey at $2.175 a gallon -- down three cents.

"Texas motorists have continued to see pump prices drop for twelve consecutive weeks," said AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau. "Whether this downward trend continues depends on market factors including cold weather in the Northeast U.S. and the price of crude oil, which rose above $60 a barrel this week following the weekly government report that showed a decrease in inventories. The decrease was mostly due to the three-day weather-related shutdown of the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port."

The national average for regular self-serve gasoline declined almost two cents to $2.202 a gallon.

AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline in Texas.
