P.M. Kitco Metals Roundup: Gold Ends Firmer on Short Covering, Chart Consolidation
(Kitco News) - Gold prices ended the U.S. day session modestly higher Thursday, on some short covering and an upside technical bounce following Wednesday’s losses. The weakening U.S. dollar index also lent some fresh buying interest in the precious metals markets Thursday. The gold and silver bears still have the firm near-term technical advantage at present. June Comex gold last traded up $5.30 at $1,564.10 an ounce. Spot gold was last quoted up $1.50 at $1,561.25. May Comex silver last traded up $0.027 at $27.68 an ounce.
