About the Author
Cecilia Teng was born in Szechuan in southern China and later escaped to Taiwan after the fall of mainland China to the Communists in 1949. In 1961 she came to the US, receiving BA degree in Mathematics at Saint Mary’s University, Missouri and a master’s degree in theoretical mathematics from Creighton University in Omaha. She worked as a computer engineer at Westinghouse Research in Pittsburgh, PA, where she met her husband, Dr. Tian Lih Teng; they moved to Long Island in 1968. They are the proud parents of two sons and a daughter.
She later studied advance Ph.D academic work at New York University and subsequently became the Director of International Education at New York Institute of Technology on Long Island, New York. In 1991 she created a successful K-12 private school on Long Island and was involved there full time for seventeen years.
She is now grandmother to two beautiful girls and enjoys writing, gardening, photography, and continues to help make the world a better place.
