Amid Tense Merger Talks a Fatal Accident Occurs at a Grupo Modelo Brewery in Mexico City
Seven people died in a workplace accident at Mexico City brewery owned by Grupo Modelo, the producer of the Corona line of beers. The workers died while cleaning a tank inside the facility. Jennifer Shelley, a spokeswoman for the Mexico City-based company said in a statement that the deaths occurred in “a confined area of a tank in which cleaning and maintenance work was being done." The company announced that it is investigating the incident and has already contacted authorities in Mexico. “We are carrying out the corresponding investigations to find out the causes of the accident,” Grupo Modelo said, in a statement.
