Fire in the North - Nordic Countries Take Top Three Slots on iPad App Revenue Chart
The inevitable has finally happened: the top three highest grossing mobile apps on the US iPad are from the Nordic region. And no, Angry Birds are not among them. Finland's simulation wizard Supercell is the current iPad app champion with "Clash of Clans" at #1 and "Hay Day" at #3. Sweden's casual gaming expert King.com holds the #2 slot with "Candy Crush Saga", which is also the top-grossing iPhone game in America. On the iPad paid download chart, Sweden's Mojang holds the #2 spot with its epic "Minecraft" game. The iPhone app charts show a similar pattern, though the Nordic apps tend to perform a bit more weakly on smartphones. Most of them are specifically targeting the surging tablet app market with games that are graphically rich and often feature expansive worlds to explore.
