VAIL, Colo., March 22, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- John and Jamie Stone, the founders of DiscoverWell, the nonprofit entity that produces the Vail Living Well Summit along with Sonnenalp Hotel, announce today that NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Joe Montana will keynote the 2013 Vail Living Well Summit (VLWS). The announcement of Montana's role adds to the already prolific lineup of U.S. and international researchers, experts and thought leaders in the realm of health and well-being scheduled to present at the three day summit, September 19-21, 2013.
"The Vail Living Well Summit already features 23 outstanding presenters that are sure to inspire and educate attendees to further their personal journey in health and well-being, as well as bring back what they learn to their families, workplace and communities," says Jamie Stone, president of DiscoverWell. "Joe is a sports icon whose professional and personal life reflects countless aspects of health and well-being. The interactive interview format, with questions from the audience and our emcee, will offer great insight into performing at a high level of achievement, dealing with its stresses, and continuing to deliver results while maintaining personal integrity and balance."
Montana was selected late in the third round of the NFL draft by San Francisco 49ers coach Bill Walsh. He went on to lead the 49ers to victories in four Super Bowls during the 1980s, including consecutive wins in 1989 and 1990. An inspirational leader and talented passer, he was named the National Football League's most valuable player three times. He joined the Kansas City Chiefs 1993–1995, before retiring with NFL playoff records for completions, yards, and touchdowns. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
"Participating in the Vail Living Well Summit as a keynote speaker is a great opportunity for me to share some of the things I found to work in maintaining balance in my life before, during and after my career in the NFL," says Montana. "Like many people, a healthy lifestyle is a constant pursuit in my life. I'm happy to share what I've learned along the way."
VLWS brings together top level doctors, researchers, athletes, along with health conscious individuals and influencers to connect, learn, share and have fun in the beauty of Vail, Colo. The Summit utilizes evidence-based interactive and experiential programming for maximum takeaway for both attendees and presenters. Topics include fitness, nutrition, cognitive and emotional well-being, heart health, preventive medicine, longevity and stress, sleep health, and cutting edge breakthroughs in health and well-being. Presenters will not only share research and information on their particular field of expertise with attendees, but meet, collaborate and share with other presenters, as well as individuals who will take back what they learn to their spheres of influence. Founders, presenters and participants of VLWS believe health and well-being is a critical component of sustainability for all people, whether you live in Vail, the State of Colorado, the United States or abroad.
"The connections made are an important piece of what will make Vail Living Well Summit a recognized center of thought leadership and collaboration in the increasingly important world of health and well-being," adds Jamie Stone. "As society moves more and more toward a mindset of taking responsibility for personal health, the importance of the relationships and research that is shared and fostered at the Summit will become more invaluable in helping people live better and longer."
