Dynegy Inc. Research Report

Dynegy announced its acquisition of five coal-fired power plants from Ameren, which will double its generation capacity in the state of Illinois, for zero cash this week. The unit will come with $825 million of non-recourse debt and includes Ameren's retail and marketing assets in the state. Meanwhile, Ameren will spend at least $133 million to buy back three natural gas-fueled plants from the subsidiary it's selling.
