Hewlett-Packard director defends board members

Hewlett-Packard director Rajiv Gupta is working to fend off a recommendation that shareholders remove Chairman Ray Lane and two other board members, Reuters reports. Gupta said in a letter to shareholders that the board had laid a solid foundation for a turnaround and that what was needed was stability at the company. Lane has come under fire for troubles at Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) and its mismanaged acquisition of the British software company Autonomy Corp. Read more at Reuters.
