Berkshire Baseball Announces Courtyard by Marriott in Wyomissing as their Official Host Hotel
Reading, Pa (MMD Newswire) March 11, 2013 -- Berkshire Baseball is excited to announce that they have entered into an agreement with the Courtyard by Marriott in Reading/Wyomissing as the official host hotel for all Berkshire Baseball Tournament events through the 2015 season.

Berkshire Baseball will be entering their 24th year of hosting baseball tournaments in the Reading and Berks County area. The organization will host 20 youth baseball tournaments in 2013, drawing over 50,000 visitors to the area and generating over $5 million for our local economy according to figures obtained by the Greater Reading Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"We are honored to have this opportunity to partner with an outstanding organization such as Berkshire Baseball. Dan Clouser and the Berkshire Baseball Club have not only contributed to the community, but have driven numerous visitors to the Greater Reading area. And for this, we are pleased to continue the partnership in an emerging capacity." Said Mark DiPiazza, General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Reading/Wyomissing since April of 2009.

Teams from all across the Mid-Atlantic Region and beyond have participated in Berkshire Baseball's unique wood bat tournament events for over two decades. The organization runs events from early April through mid-October for ages 10-U through 18-U drawing in upwards of 50 to 60 teams on most weekends.

"We're real excited to have the Courtyard by Marriott partner with us." Stated Dan Clouser, President and General Manager of Berkshire Baseball. "We have always gone out of our way to make our tournaments a great overall experience for our participants, much more than just a baseball experience. The Courtyard by Marriott will certainly help us to achieve and enhance that objective. It's location to our fields, other amenities and overall atmosphere will be great for all of our teams that stay there."

Berkshire Baseball recently entered into a 20-year lease with the County of Berks for the Berks County Youth Recreation Facility in Bern Township. As part of the lease agreement, the organization will be conducting a $1-1.5 million renovation project to the facility. In addition to the Berks County Youth Recreation Facility, visiting teams also play at Ruth Field in Womelsdorf, the Robesonia Playground, Gibraltar Playground, Egelman's Ballfield, Kutztown University and the Daniel Boone Middle School Complex while in the area, literally creating a huge positive economic impact for the entire county.

Berkshire Baseball will be adding two week-long tournament events for teams ages 10-U through 14-U in 2014 that will be played solely at the Berks County Youth Recreation Facility and the Courtyard by Marriott along with other area attractions will be playing a huge part in creating lasting memories for the young aspiring ballplayers and their families who come and play here, making Berks County a true baseball destination for those teams looking for a complete overall experience.
