Luxottica Group Takes Lead in Premium and Luxury Optical Retail in China With Roll Out of LensCrafters Brand to That Market
LensCrafters New Flagship Store Opened Today in Beijing

BEIJING, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Luxottica Group S.p.A. (NYSE:LUX) announced today that it will roll out the LensCrafters brand to its premium retail locations in China, thus taking the lead in premium and luxury optical retail in this market. The announcement was made today in Beijing at the opening of LensCrafters' new flagship store in the Chinese capital at the Oriental Plaza mall, one of the city's most upscale shopping centers.

LensCrafters is a retail brand with a rich history. Its first store opened in the United States in 1983, today it is the leading premium optical brand in North America. In China, LensCrafters will offer consumers the best Made in Italy brands in eyewear, best-in-class service and state-of-the-art technology in eyecare, thus becoming the destination store for premium and luxury Chinese eyewear consumers.

Luxottica Group currently manages 270 optical stores in Greater China -- from Beijing to Shanghai, the Guangdong province and Hong Kong. The Group expects to have up to 90 LensCrafters stores in these markets by the end of 2007.
