An early morning crash on a highway in northern India left at least a dozen young children dead, authorities of Punjab state confirm. The accident occurred in the Gahir area of Jalandhar district around 8 a.m. local time. The school bus collided head on with a truck. It is unclear who was at fault.
"Seven students died on the spot, four died in hospital. The driver of the bus also died," local police official Rajinder Singh confirmed.
The accident is under investigation.
