Bluegreen Vacations, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE: BXG) congratulates Angela Ward, President of Bluegreen's Resort Title Agency, who has been selected to receive a "2013 Florida Glass Ceiling Award" during the Florida Diversity Council's upcoming 3rd Annual Florida Women's Conference. Angela and other winners will be formally recognized for her leadership excellence during the Conference's Glass Ceiling Awards Breakfast, which will take place on March 1st at Nova Southeastern University-Davie Campus.
"It is an honor to join other women who I see have definitely broken through," Angela said. "It's hard for me to see that I have actually broken through, because I feel like I have so much more to accomplish, so that my daughter only sees the Glass Ceiling as an architectural feature in a building vs. a barrier to her career."
Angela has been involved with the Florida Diversity Council since the South Florida chapter's inception in 2010. She served as volunteer executive director for one year. Her interest lies in the fact that diversity is a reality, not a corporate buzzword, she says.
"We live in a global society where children today generally are surrounded by a diverse group of individuals, however in business at the highest levels diversity is not yet cultivated and definitely not capitalized upon," Angela said. "The statistics are clear that businesses that embrace diversity and all its aspects have much higher profit margins, higher employee engagement and various other key metrics."
Angela added that the real challenge for today's employers is that they are faced with college students that are extremely familiar with and comfortable with diversity.
"If companies continue down the path of what we know to be the traditional dynamic in the workplace, there is going to be an extreme disconnect with the next generation of great minds and growth opportunities could potentially be missed," she said.
In addition to serving as a Glass Ceiling Award recipient, she is also speaking on the Top Leadership Competencies panel at the conference.
