Boeing proposes long-term 787 fixes, no plans to scrap lithium-ion batteries

Executives from The Boeing Co. met with the Federal Aviation Administration on Friday to lay out what people familiar with the company’s plan say are long-term fixes to the problems with the batteries on its 787 Dreamliner. According to this report from Reuters, however, those plans do not include forgoing the use of lithium-ion batteries, and Boeing is "not working on a backup or longer-term fix for the problem," so the proposal is not a short-term fix that will be replaced by another solution.
