The show introduced the nation to organic foods, self-sufficiency and ‘going green’, as the Good family transformed their suburban home into a working farm, complete with crops, pigs and chickens. Their lifestyle didn’t appeal to their neighbours in the show, but it certainly appealed to British TV audiences, since the show remains popular more than 30 years after it was broadcast.
