After much anticipation…. designed to fix the mobile data issues, Apple has released a supplemental update ot its newest version of iOS — iOS 6.1.1 — you can download it now by going into Settings, then General, then Software Update or connect your phone to your PC and check via iTunes
However, there are still reports that the upgrade is somehow causing the iPhone 4S to run out of power more quickly than in the past.
“The iOS 6.1.1 update fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S,” Apple said.
Vodafone is now advising its customers to go ahead and update their iPhone 4S handsets to a new version of iOS.
“Apple has released a new version of its iPhone software that fixes the 3G performance issues that have been affecting users of the iPhone 4S who had installed iOS 6.1,” Vodafone said on Tuesday. “Please download the latest version — iOS 6.1.1 — from Apple as soon as you can as this will deal with these issues.”
It comes exactly two weeks after the iPhone and iPad maker rolled out the latest major version of the mobile operating system, iOS 6.1.
The 86.8MB update comes after, Vodafone warned iPhone 4S owners about possible 3G performance problems caused by iOS 6.1, released on January 28th … because of battery and connectivity problems.
In its statement on Friday, Vodafone said: “While Apple’s investigations continue, we would recommend that anyone who has not yet installed iOS 6.1 on their iPhone 4S should delay doing so until Apple has confirmed that the problem has been fixed.”Editor’s Picks:
