MarketScope for Business Intelligence and Information Management, North America, issued January 30, 2013.* Gartner's MarketScope provides specific guidance for users who are deploying, or have deployed, Business intelligence (BI) and Information Management (IM) products or services in North America. It includes guidance for users in the data warehouse, BI, and analytics markets.
According to Gartner, the vendors in the "positive" category are "aggressively investing to develop BI, information analysis, PM (Project Management) and IM solutions to meet client needs. The service providers evaluated have a strong understanding of what needs to be done to grow their solution offerings for information analysis, PM and IM solutions."
Service providers in this MarketScope are evaluated on capabilities and offerings that span Gartner's Business Analytics framework, which establishes the elements necessary to execute a complete program. These may include strategy, people and processes, project management, analytics, BI platform and IM infrastructure. These projects often require a blend of business, industry, technology, project and program management skills that must be applied to organizational objectives, business culture and employees.
The assessment takes into account six major criteria: market understanding, offering/product strategy, geographic strategy, core products/services, customer experience and market responsiveness and track record.
