The Beck Group, a worldwide, integrated architecture, construction, technology and professional services firm, today announced it has won the 2012 Outstanding Construction Award in the Interior Finish-Out 3 category. The firm was recognized by AGC Austin for its work on the Imaging Research Center located within in the Norman Hackerman Building at the University of Texas-Austin.
The finish out provides 6,000 SF of additional laboratory research space primarily for imaging of both animals and humans. The new laboratory spaces include two state-of-the-art MRI magnets (3.0 Tesla and 7.0 Tesla) from England, as well as a CT PET scanner and optical imaging equipment.
The project was an extension to the Beck-built Norman Hackerman Building at the University of Texas-Austin for the College of Natural Sciences, finishing out the remaining shell space in the basement of the building.
