Orders for long-lasting goods jump 4.6%
Orders for big-ticket items made in the U.S. soared 4.6% in December, fanned by a big batch of orders for Boeing aircraft. Demand was still solid other makers of long-lasting goods, but business investment weakened in the last month of the year.
