Travelers Weathers Sandy, Beats Q4 Profit Estimates
Travelers (TRV) beat analysts' fourth-quarter estimates despite being hurt by losses from Superstorm Sandy. The nation's largest property and casualty insurer's earnings per share fell 52% to 72 cents, but that easily topped views of 14 cents. Revenue rose just 2.5% to $5.39 billion, good enough to top Wall Street's consensus forecast of $5.34 billion. Travelers shares were 2.8% higher in Tuesday afternoon trading, and at a 52-week high.
