PR Log - Jan 20, 2013 - CLAREMONT Calif. (X-tier) – The “Thwump Thwump” of police helicopters circled overhead as Los Angeles Sheriff S.W.A.T. officers moved in. Fire Department and Paramedics arrived and waited. People scattered. Shouts were heard. This was the scene at Scripps Women’s College, a part of the Claremont Colleges, as they conducted an extensive three day multi-agency Active Shooter drill. Their sister college, Claremont McKenna provided the use of their Cloud-based Emergency Operations Software, EVE eContingency Management Center by X-tier.
The drill began with “shots fired!” Claremont McKenna College immediately sent a private mass alert to nearly 70 college emergency staff and select students. Replying to the alerts, recipients sent their responses via voice, text, and or email directly to Claremont McKenna’s EVE eContingency Management Center (EVE EMC®) where response operations were managed.
College personnel used the system to track the incident, evaluate and log operational information such as actions between liaisons, the Command Post, while also providing situational updates via text directly to on-scene personnel. Checklists and plans stored on the system were accessed. The safety status of responders was monitored and recorded. Information on injured persons was captured and entered into the system to include the hospitals where the injured were taken.
