Healthy Hiring Continues for Registered Nurses
PRWeb

During December of 2012, more than 156,000 job ads were posted online by healthcare organizations for Registered Nurses, according to WANTED Analytics(TM) (http://www.wantedanalytics.com), the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. As the US population ages, healthcare jobs continue to be highly demanded. Despite a slowing in the last quarter of 2012, the number of job ads for Nurses grew 20% compared to one year ago.

The largest percentage of these jobs were placed by medical and surgical hospitals. This part of the healthcare sector represented 16% of demand for Registered Nurses during December 2012. Other healthcare industries with the highest demand included physicians' offices, home healthcare services, nursing care facilities, and ambulatory health care services.

The five metropolitan areas with the highest volume of Registered Nurse job ads during December were Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Miami. Healthcare employers in Dallas posted the most jobs for nursing professionals, with more than 5,400 and growing about 13% compared to December 2011. However, of these five most in-demand metro areas, Atlanta had the highest year-over-year growth. Demand there increased 78% versus the same time period in 2011.

Nationwide, these positions are likely to be moderately difficult-to-recruit. With more than 8,500 employers currently sourcing for Registered Nurses, there is heavy competition to attract qualified talent. According to the Hiring Scale(TM), the locations currently experiencing some of the most difficult conditions for recruiting this talent are Fairbanks (Alaska), Midland (Texas), and Flagstaff (Arizona). In these areas, there is higher demand by employers in comparison to the available, local talent pool. This factor not only contributes to more difficult recruiting, but also increases the time-to-fill, with ads remaining online for an average of 7 weeks - one week longer than the national average.

The Hiring Scale also shows that the current locations with the least difficult conditions for sourcing Registered Nurses are Bloomington (Indiana), Johnstown (Pennsylvania), and Muncie (Indiana). While the US average Hiring Scale score is 53 (out of a possible 99, with 99 denoting the hardest-to-fill,) these cities score a 5. Recruiters here are likely to have more potential candidates to choose among and spend a shorter time sourcing candidates than the rest of the United States. Online job ads in these areas are posted for as short as 4 weeks.

The Hiring Scale measures conditions in local job markets by comparing hiring demand and labor supply. The Hiring Scale is part of the WANTED Analytics platform that offers business intelligence for the talent marketplace.
