On Monday, we watched this year’s CES keynote by Qulcomm CEO Dr. Paul Jacobs in a combination of awe and amusement. Though the message was presented in an interesting way, the significance of mobile in the new year is undeniable–and everyone has their own thoughts on exactly what role mobile will play.

74% U.S. smartphone users get real-time, location-based information on phones. MarketingLand shared its five predictions on Mobile Marketing in 2013 as location technology is further integrated into our daily lives.

The competition within the mobile search space will heat up in 2013, as mobile marketing has emerged as effective tool for direct response. Accoding to Direct Marketing News, 70% of  mobile searches lead to action within one hour versus within one month for online searches. In fact, most consumers actually welcome ads on their mobile device.

Finally, its not too late to make a New Years resolution! This week, LinkedIn announced it doubled its size since 2011. The site now has  over 200 million members representing over 200 countries and territories. Anyone who has been resisting the professional networking site should make it one of their priorities in 2013 to get on board.
