Chelmsford, MA, January 11, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Mona R. Meyers' mother moved in with her daughter's family over 20 years ago. She was going to assist Meyers with her daily tasks as a new mother with a husband deployed oversea. Now, those roles are reversed. Meyers is now caring for her 87-year-old mother, who is recovering from heart surgery. In her journey with her mother, Meyers has learned many of the things people need to know when caring for aging parents. In her newly released book, "A Guide to Assist You and Your Parents in the Aging Process" (ISBN 0615697216). Meyers shares her experiences, along with those of her famiy and friends, on what it is like to become the caregiver of agings parents and relatives.
"The aging of our parents is extremely relevant in today's environment, everyone is facing similiar situations with their parents," says Meyers. "Through it all, it has been my privilege to care for my mom. We cherish having her with us."
In her new book, Meyers breaks down the complicated roles of grown children as caregivers to aging and sick parents. She also explains the related roles of non-care giving siblings, and parents who are receiving the assistance to better help the caregiver in that role. As the caregiver to her mother as well as her mother-in-law, Meyers learned the nuances of taking care of an aging and ill relative the hard way. Having juggled the medical and emotional elements of care giving for so long, many people sought out Meyers for her expertise in this area. She became a resource for many friends and others faced with similar situations with aging parents.
Meyers decided to write her book, "A Guide to Assist You and Your Parents in the Aging Process" to answer those questions. Also in her book, Meyers provides numerous resources and forms that were helpful in dealing with all aspects of caring for aged parents'-medical, financial and even emotional.
Mona R. Meyers attended the University of Southern California before returning home to assist her sick father. She earned her bachelor's in accounting from Southern Illinois University before moving with her mother and younger sister back to California after the death of her father. She is married to her high school sweetheart who is now a retired United States Naval Officer. Meyers has worked as a mortgage loan consultant for over 18 years and is a member of the President's Club. When her husband was deployed for six months, her mother moved in with them to help take care of Meyers' son. The roles have reversed and now, Meyers takes care of her 87-year-old mother, which was her inspiration behind "A Guide to Assist You and Your Parents in the Aging Process."
