PR Log - Jan 10, 2013 - SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Locally-based eWaste recycler Recycle San Diego and the Rancho Family YMCA have partnered to host an eWaste Event on January 19, 2013 from 10am-2pm at 9410 Fairgrove Lane, San Diego, CA 92129.
Jeffrey Harding, the Founder and President of Recycle San Diego, states “Because of ever-increasing technological advancement, many electronic products become obsolete within a very short period of time, creating a large surplus of unwanted electronic waste, or “e-Waste.” Disposing of e-Waste in landfills has the potential to cause severe environmental health impacts due to the release of heavy metals and toxic chemicals.”
To avoid these environmental risks Harding suggests that people join their local community of environmentally-aware citizens and take advantage of the free eWaste Event at Rancho Family YMCA or at any of the other company-sponsored eWaste Events that are held almost every Saturday throughout the county.
Items that can be recycled include: computers, monitors, TVs, laptops, cables, printers, fax machines, scanners, DVD players, VCRs, and other electronic items.
Recycle San Diego wishes to remind the public that it is illegal to dispose of e-Waste in the trash and California requires that companies recycle their e-Waste. California currently has the most comprehensive landfill ban in the nation, curbing both the illegal disposal and export of the largest category of toxic electronics which includes CRT TVs and computer monitors.
Founded in 2006, Recycle San Diego is the #1 community resource for San Diego County, providing the most universal and innovative waste collection systems in the industry. Recycle San Diego believes in safe, environmentally friendly ways to reuse, recycle and repurpose eWaste of all types. “We recycle anything that plugs in or runs on batteries!”
