Hawaii’s new members in Congress pick up plum committee assignments

The new members of Hawaii’s congressional delegation were assigned to some powerful committees Friday, the second day of the 113th U.S. Congress. including the Senate Armed Services Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Sen. Mazie Hirono was assigned to the Senate Committee on Armed Services, and Sen.
