Retail Sales End 2012 Weak, With Few Exceptions
Same-store retail sales are estimated to have grown just 1.9% in December, down from the 2.5% forecast at the beginning of the month, a report out Monday said. The Retail Metrics December same-store sales index was hurt by continuing weak drugstore sales. Factoring out drugstores, December comparable stores sales were 3.7%, also below the market tracker's earlier estimate of 4.2% at the beginning of the month. Tellingly, combined November/December
