“The Secret Sense of Wildflower,” is the story of 13 year-old Louisa May McAllister, nicknamed Wildflower, whose life has been shaped around the recent death of her beloved father in a sawmill accident. A dangerous teenage boy sets his sights on Wildflower and she must call on her secret sense to deal with his threat.

Kirkus Review’s Starred Review said, “Sharp-witted, strong, curious and distrustful of any authority figure not living up to her standards-—including God—-Louisa May immerses us in her world with astute observations and wonderfully turned phrases, with nary a cliché to be found.”

This is author Susan Gabriel’s second novel following 2008′s successful “Seeking Sara Summers.” which has garnered praise from readers worldwide. As a former psychotherapist, Gabriel takes the insights gained from her profession and used them as a novelist to create characters whose strengths and flaws come together in compelling ways.

Gabriel’s rich experience infuses her work with insight and nuance. As Kirkus Reviews observed, “The Secret Sense of Wildflower” is a “quietly powerful story, at times harrowing but ultimately a joy to read.”

The Secret Sense of Wildflower has been described as a character-driven novel reminiscent of the work of Reynolds Price in its ability to create a truly original Southern voice. It will be embraced by fans of Sue Monk Kidd (The Secret Life of Bees) and Harper Lee (To Kill A Mockingbird).” I am honored by the comparisons,” Gabriel said.

“The Secret Sense of Wildflower” is available at the author’s site http://www.SusanGabriel.com as well as Amazon, Barns & Noble, and iTunes. Visitors to the site can have the first chapter of “The Secret Sense of Wildflower” emailed to them.
