Austin, Texas, Dec. 13, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tickets for the 2013 GRAND-AM of The Americas presented by Gainsco and Total at Circuit of The Americas are on sale now at www.CircuitofTheAmericas.comand www.Ticketmaster.com. The race weekend, set for March 1-2, 2013, features the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series, which is the top series sanctioned by GRAND-AM. Its three classes, the exotic Daytona Prototypes and the production-based GT and GX cars, run simultaneously at road racing venues across the United States.
Two-day tickets are on sale now for $59 and allow fans to purchase reserved seats in the Main Grandstand, Turn 1 grandstand or Turn 15 grandstand--or to watch on-track activities from general admission areas if that is their preference. All ticketed guests will have access to the GRAND-AM paddock during the two-day event and to a pre-race pit lane walk on March 2. Patrons with Circuit of The Americas personal seat licenses can purchase their seats at a special, discounted price.
Circuit of The Americas will also offer a VIP Club in the second and third levels of the track's paddock building above the team garages. The VIP Club will offer a hospitality space for individuals or private hospitality areas for groups of up to 25 guests. Two-day VIP Club tickets are priced at $549 per person and include complimentary food and beverage options for each day of the event.
GRAND-AM'S Rolex Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge will make their Texas debuts at Circuit of The Americas this March in the second race of the 2013 season and the first race coming off of the series' signature event, Rolex 24 At Daytona. Next year will also mark the first visit of the two premier sports car series in the United States, the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, to Circuit of The Americas--along with GRAND-AM's Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. In 2014, these two American sports car series will merge into one championship.
"Circuit of The Americas is thrilled to add GRAND-AM, one of the premier sports car series in America, to its 2013 roster," said Circuit Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer Geoff Moore. "The series maintains the largest sports car fan base in the United States, and we look forward to hosting it in Austin next year. This is a great addition to our calendar and will provide an interactive fan experience that both new and veteran motorsports fans will enjoy."
GRAND-AM's top-tier Rolex Sports Car Series is headlined by the Daytona Prototype (DP) class, which has attracted the attention of superstar drivers and universally recognized teams and has revolutionized sports car racing with exciting racing at the front of the field and close finishes in virtually every race.
The Rolex Series' GT class features high-performance, production-based sports car racing. With an eye toward the cost-containment and close competition that has propelled the popularity of the DP class, GRAND-AM'S GT category provides a stable battleground for the world's top automobile manufacturers. Additionally, the GX class makes its debut in 2013 and allows for a wide variety of cars, including those with technologies not previously involved in the series.
GRAND-AM events are recognized for their unique, interactive fan experiences that include up-close-and-personal access to teams and cars in the paddock and pit lane areas. Special events throughout the race, such as driver autograph sessions and fan zones, provide guests with opportunities to meet drivers and support personnel and learn more about the series.
Circuit of The Americas will also offer a free, post-race concert in its Tower Amphitheater on Saturday, March 2, that will be open to all ticketed guests. Performers will be announced prior to race weekend.
