Stocks Open Mixed After Jobs, Confidence Reports
Stocks opened mixed yet again Friday as investors took in positive payroll numbers and a disappointing read on consumer confidence. The Dow Jones industrial average scaled up 0.4%. The S&P 500 tacked on 0.2%, while the Nasdaq lagged with a 0.1% loss. Volume was down 23% on the Nasdaq and flat on the NYSE compared with Thursday morning's pace.
