PR Log - Dec 03, 2012 - Essex, England -- The new novel was inspired by the themes of ruthlessness and loyalty that fill the noir films and novels of the 1970s. “Ten years ago, I watched the superb Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson, and there was no going back,” Amazon says. “I went on to The Godfather, both the movies and the novel by Mario Puzo. I was fascinated by the tone and the mood, and wanted to know if I could write something like that.”
In The Kiss After Midnight, a fairy tale that starts in a posh nightclub turns to tragedy when a woman is discovered beaten to death, and wealthy Tobias Mead is accused of murdering her. It gets worse when the bullets start flying in his direction. The mysterious beauty, it turns out, was also romantically involved with the volatile heir of the Central American drug cartel taking over New York City’s underworld. Now the family wants revenge, as well as something valuable that Penélope may have left with an unsuspecting Tobias.
Amazon is branching out from his first publication, the epic fantasy The Corin Chronicles Volume 1: The Light and the Dark, but he doesn’t see his venture into crime fiction as a permanent shift in voice. “I’m still writing fantasy, and all of the books in The Corin Chronicles,” he says. “There’s room for me to do both.”
This second book in The Midnight Trilogy is scheduled to release in Fall 2013.
