Short-Covering, Soft Dollar Give Boost To Sugar

Raw sugar futures surged nearly 3% Monday, buoyed by short-covering and a soft dollar. A weak greenback can boost dollar-traded commodities such as the softs complex -- with the exception of Liffe cocoa, which trades in British sterling -- by attracting buyers holding other currencies. March sugar on ICE Futures U.S. rose 0.41 cent, or 2.1%, to 19.75 cents per pound, after earlier jumping 3.1% to 19.94 cents. Dealers said producer selling will
