NORWALK, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 11/27/12 -- University Business magazine and Higher One are honoring nine colleges and universities in the winter 2012 round of their "Models of Efficiency" program. "Models of Efficiency," a national recognition program launched by the magazine in partnership with Higher One in 2010, honors institutions of higher learning that meet the education business and technology challenges of today's campuses.
Each honoree is recognized for its efforts in streamlining operations, resulting in improved services being provided in less time, often utilizing fewer staff, and at a lower cost. Many of these solutions also contribute to make the schools greener.
"With each new round of winners, we've seen the ideas and solutions reported by these higher ed institutions push the envelope a little farther; they've gotten more inventive, more creative, and more results driven," said Tim Goral, editor-in-chief of University Business. "Through collaboration and teamwork, our nine winter 2012 winners have come up with solutions to some of higher ed's most difficult technology and business process challenges."
The winter 2012 honorees are: Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio); Dallas County Community College District (Texas); Pepperdine University's Graziadio School (Calif.); Northern Michigan University; NorthWest Arkansas Community College; Polk State College (Fla.); Southern California University of Health Sciences; Texas A&M Health Science Center; and University of West Georgia.
Full descriptions of the winter 2012 honorees' projects, as well as application information for upcoming rounds, can be found at www.universitybusiness.com/modelsofefficiency.
"It's been a very rewarding experience for us in partnering with University Business to recognize these higher ed institutions for their operational efficiencies," said Miles Lasater, co-founder and COO of Higher One, the program's sponsor. "The Models of Efficiency winners continue to set the bar high for excellence, but at the same time show that even small projects can make a big difference. These schools inspire the private sector, as well, as we continue to strive to streamline our operations and improve our services. We're proud to support their efforts."
