Week in Review: Henan Province Starts $40 Million Biological Fund

The Henan Broadhi Biological Fund was established with 250 million RMB ($40 million) of venture capital to support biological companies in Henan Province; ShanghaiTech University announced the formation of the iHuman Institute, an international basic science research effort that will focus on cell signaling and kinases; Hebei Changshan Biochemical Pharma will form a JV with ConjuChem, a privately owned Los Angeles company that is developing a long-acting form of insulin; Sihuan Pharma, China’s largest cerebral-cardiovascular drugmaker, bought China rights to two clinical-stage drugs from NeuroVive Pharmaceutical; and Hua Medicine is on track to start clinical trials of a treatment for type 2 diabetes in-licensed from Roche.
