Stocks Gain After Reports Of Progress On Fiscal Cliff
Stocks rose Friday on optimistic news related to the fiscal-cliff talks, seesawing a bit but eventually posting gains for the day. The Nasdaq popped 0.6%, the S&P 500 0.5% and the NYSE composite 0.4%. Small caps did better with a 0.9% advance in the Russell 2000. The IBD 50 added 1.2%. Volume rose across the board. West Texas Intermediate crude oil rolled 1.4% higher on concerns over Israel and Hamas, and a platform fire in the Gulf of Mexico. The
