“The vision of Ohana Institute is to provide a personalized learning path that truly transforms education by discovering individual talents in an environment where students want to learn, and where they can naturally discover their true passion as a life path.” states founder, Lettye Burgtorf. “We offer our students and their parents an engaging and secure learning environment, where everyone is given an equal chance to grow academically, emotionally, and socially while finding their passion in life. Together, we are truly humbled and honored to receive this accreditation. Ohana means family, and none of this would be possible without the hard work of the teachers, our administrator, parents, and students. Their dedication to the school and its vision is more than I could have imagined when we started this school just a few years ago.”
A current senior at Ohana Institute, Draven McKenzie Johnston, added, “At Ohana I find myself being challenged and given the freedom to learn through new, innovative and engaging methods. Because of this experience at Ohana Institute, my future is brighter. Through our online course curriculum and Project Based Learning, I have learned self-motivation and presentation skills that will help me be successful outside of the classroom.“
Dr. William Bennett, former U.S. Secretary of Education and one of America's most important, influential and respected voices on cultural, political, and education issues, explains that the industry is in need of an educational option such as Ohana Institute. "Because of Ohana’s vision and mission, on which they have built a strong foundation, students will walk out into the world as global citizens, possessing the traits of character we most admire and hope for in regard to building the future of America and our educational system.”

In addition to technology, Ohana Institute has taken a bold approach in their music program, Ohana Records. Ohana Records is an exploratory music program that focuses on music education through the formation of authentic student bands. Students learn to play several instruments, take part in original songwriting, and basic music recording. Mr. Jonathan Mitchell, their teacher, is a highly talented musician who was formerly signed with Atlantic Records. Mr. Mitchell acts as band manager to facilitate student collaboration on their song choices and writing, while assisting them in learning new instruments. This builds self-confidence and a strong stage presence, fosters teamwork and problem solving skills, and gives students a real-life experience as they take the stage and perform live at local venues.
