Almost half of Australian professionals would be willing to take a pay cut to move into their dream profession, according to the latest research from specialist recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.
The survey of over 1000 Australian professionals found that 46% of professionals would take a pay cut to move into their preferred profession, 67% of those professionals were willing to lose up to $5000 from their current salary. 18% were willing to take a cut of up to $10,000, while 15% were willing to lose over $10,000.
Robert Walters, Director Michelle Cottrell adds, "Our research consistently show that remuneration ranks highly in what the average professional wants, but is rarely first on the list. This research shows that most professionals are willing to sacrifice pay to be in a role they enjoy and are engaged in. Organisations should keep this in mind when searching for new talent and retaining their current teams. To keep your best professionals you must offer attractive benefits, progression and projects that will keep employees engaged."
